This week we have a fun back-to-school giveaway! Here’s my sister Michelle, our resident reviewer…
Michelle is a super-Mom of 3 children: Maggie (7..nearly), Jack (5) and Tommy (2). She juggles parenting and her job as a home-care nurse while hubby works full-time in corporate America and serves as the Chief of the local volunteer fire company. Michelle will be giving you her honest opinion on products and services that we feel you all of you might be interested in. We will be hosting many giveaways for these products as well.
*Please note that Michelle may have received free product on compensation in exchange for these reviews and giveaways. Not a bad deal – she gets to be the guinea pig for all of you and you have the chance to get free stuff! To Mom power!
This review is also a giveaway – scroll down to the bottom of the post for details…
O.K. so let me start by saying I love the concept of Tickler Tags. These little tags were developed by busy Mom Nicole Budleski. These tags were designed to make our crazy schedules a little easier. If your schedule is anything like mine you’ll understand why this would sound like a good idea.
This coming school year is going to be especially challenging for our family. My daughter is starting 2nd grade and also has Gymnastics, swimming, and Girl scouts as afterschool activities. My son Jack starts Kindergarten, but it is only a half day program. He also will be starting several, yet to be determined, after school activities. Tommy, our littlest, is in three half days at daycare and one day with my mom (Nanny) while I work as a nurse. Add in a few doctors’ visits, haircuts, and PTO events, and as one can imagine, time management gets a little tricky. The first thing Tommy asks in the morning is “what day is it today Mommy?” However, he doesn’t want to know if it is Monday or Tuesday, he wants to know if it is a Mommy day, a school day, or a Nanny day. When I saw that I was to review TicklerTags, I thought “now why didn’t I think of that?”
Tickler Tags can be purchased for $1.50 a piece with the accompanying carabineer clips for $2.50. The tags are split into four different categories; activity tags, transportation tags, tickle tags, and customized tags. I received several from the first three categories to trial. Activity tags are different activities that your child might be participating in. Transportation tags let your child know how they are getting from A to B. For example, they might take the bus one day or Grand mom may be picking them up from school another. Tickle tags are happy little thoughts to send with your child to school, a lot like a note in a lunchbox. The customized tags are designable by you and can include personalized pictures. These are $5.00 per tag.
I received my Tickler Tags in a cute case with a feather and carabineer (see video for the cute packaging). Since we haven’t started school yet, I decided to try them out on Maggie and Jack’s summer camp book bags. This is where we ran into a little problem. Jack is only just learning to read and cannot read the Tickler Tags. This is ok for some of the tags, but not for others. For example, the bus tag has a picture of a bus on it. Great! But the “mom is picking up today” tag just has a picture of a car. Well that could be Nana, Mommy, or the babysitter. The customized tags might work better for our family, but at $5.00 a tag they do cost a little more.
I really do love this concept and I know there are many creative ways to use them. Maybe you, our readers, might have some fun ideas on how you would use these little tags with a big message.

This year my daughter is in first grade and I have started working. In the past, there was no confusion, I picked her up every day. This year, however, we will have alternating schedules, some days I will pick her up, some days her grandfather, some days she will ride the bus. I know the TICKLER tags will save her stress and worrying each day about where to go. My daughter likes to have a plan in advance, and if she can look at the tag on her backpack and know what to expect, our lives will all be happier! I choose the tags for Bus, Grandpa, Mom, Love You, and gymnastics. What a wonderful, creative, and helpful idea! I will recommend this to my friends and teachers at our schools!
